"My Fair Lady" - Signed Libretto with Autograph Musical Quotation

New York City: Signet. 1956. Twelfth Printing. Printed copy of the libretto/script for the smash hit Broadway show, signed by both halves of the writing team on early facing pages "To Stephen Adamson—Regards, Alan Jay Lerner," and "To Stephen Adamson, with Best wishes, Frederick Loewe," with Loewe adding an AMQS of the opening melody from "I Could Have Danced All Night".  Rebound hardcover with original softcover wrappers retained inside.  12mo, 128 pp, toning throughout, light staining along the hinge, clear laminating paper over both signed pages, Lerner & Loewe postage stamp and printed portrait pasted in to ffe and title, else fine.  4.25 x 7 inches (10.8 x 17.8 cm.).

One of the most successful musicals of all time, Lerner & Loewe's 1957 musical My Fair Lady was based on the 1913 play Pygmalion, written by George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950).  The story of Eliza Doolittle, a cockney flower seller, and Professor Henry Higgins, who decides to give her elocution lessons as a bet, was adapted for the screen in 1964 by director George Cukor, with Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison in the leading roles.
