Charming black and white enamel buttons decorated with sheet music for the first and third verses of "God Save the Queen," ca. 1880. Wear in accordance with age, else fine, .85 x 1 inches (2.2 x 2.6 cm.).The exact date when "God Save the Queen/King" became the national anthem of the United Kingdom is unknown, as its designation was never officially decreed. The song, not quite in its present form but recognizable, was first published in 1744. The author is unknown. (18773)
