Signed Mora Studio of NY photograph of the great cellist with his instrument, inscribed "À Madame Hopkinson/ Hommages de son tout dévoué A. Fischer," dated Philadelphia, 28 May 1881. 4.25 x 6.5 inches (10.5 x 16.5 cm). Very fine. From the Francis Hopkinson Family Archives, this piece inscribed to the wife of Oliver Hopkinson. 

Lieutenant Colonel Oliver P Hopkinson (1812-1905) was a distinguished barrister, statesmen, and soldier. He was the son of Joseph Hopkinson and Emily Mifflin (daughter of Pennsylvania Governor Thomas Mifflin and Sarah Morris), Grandson of Francis Hopkinson (lawyer, writer, musician and patriot who signed the Declaration of Independence) and Nancy "Ann" Borden (daughter of Joseph Borden and Elizabeth Rogers) and was Great Grandson of Thomas Hopkinson and Mary Johnson. He served during the Civil War with the 1st Regiment, Delaware Volunteers and with the
51st Regiment Infantry, Pennsylvania Militia and was married to Elisa Swaim with whom he had 11 children. (18744)
