Signed card from the American violinist and composer, featuring an AMQS of the open strings on the violin, along with a half-tone photograph clipped from an unidentified publication.  Fine.  Card measures 3.25 x 2.25 inch (8.2 x 5.7 cm.).

The important violinist Albert Spalding is known for premiering Samuel Barber's Violin Concerto in 1941. During World War II, he served in the Psychological Warfare Division of SHAEF, and gave a legendary concert to thousands of terrified refugees stranded in a cave near Naples during a bombing raid. Spalding is also known for the American premiers of the Elgar and Dohnanyi concerti and his fascinating autobiography, Rise to Follow.  (18707)
