Signed copy of this amusing collection of pithy sayings, illustrated by Blake and signed by him on the title page opposite one such illustration, this page inscribed additionally by the volume's editors, Peter and Josie Holton, "For Alan/ To my favourite songwriter with love." 152 pp. 5 x 9.2 inches [13 x 23 cm].  Hardcover, as issued with gilt-stamped paper over boards and without jacket. Covers somewhat dampstained, a little musty overall, light impressions and marks to endpages, else fine.

A nice item from the English cartoonist, illustrator and children's writer who has illustrated over 300 books, including 18 written by Roald Dahl, which are among his most popular works.  For his lasting contribution as a children's illustrator he won the biennial, international Hans Christian Andersen Award in 2002, the highest recognition available to creators of children's books.
