TLS from the writer to a Director Giancarlo Camerana in Turin of an unknown institute regarding a conference to be held the next Spring.  Dated Milan, 27 October 1953;  1 pp., typed on hole-punched 8.75 x 11.25 inch (22.2 x 28.6 cm.) stationary. Text translated from the Italian: "Dear Director, Please excuse my late response to your invitation, but it is only now that I can tell you with certainty that I can hold a conference in April.  I will send you my bio-bibliographic note and a photograph soon. In the meantime, I tell you the title of the conversation: Discourse on Poetry.  Please accept my best regards."  Mailing folds, else fine.

Salvatore Quasimodo was a Sicilian novelist and poet who received the 1959 Nobel Prize in Literature 'for his lyrical poetry, which with classical fire expresses the tragic experience of life in our own times.' (18545)
