Original 1845 Program

Original program of a Leipzig Gewandhaus concert on 19th of June, 1845, concert presented by and featuring music from the French composer Félicien David.  4 pp., scattered foxing, mild surface creases, overall very fine. 7.25 x 9.5 inches (18.5 x 24 cm.)

Presented in two parts, the concert featured David's Symphony in E-flat major; "Der Tage der Todten", a song for bass voice and orchestra sung by August Kindermann (1817–1891); "Die Schwalben", for tenor and orchestra, and "Der Tchybouk", a song "in orientalischer Weise" ["to an oriental melody"] for tenor and orchestra, both performed by Herr Widemann.  The second portion of the concert consisted of "Die Wüste", a symphonic ode in three parts, featuring singing and speech from Herrs Widemann and Stürmer.
