"A Poetrait of Col. John Glenn" - SIGNED

An amusing "Poetrait" of the first American to orbit the Earth, circling it three times in 1962, and who following his retirement from NASA, served from 1974 to 1999 as a Democratic United States Senator from Ohio. Penned by an admirer and signed by the subject in black ink "Best regards— John Glenn, Jr." The poem is an acrostic (the first letter of each line when read vertically forming the name "Col John Glenn") and reads, in full:
Come closer to heaven than any other man,Orbited outer space and changed Russia's plan.
Lighted the pathway- proof will come soon,

Just a few more months- he'll reach the moon.
Of all the air minded and their distant thought,
He was borned [sic.] to be America's great astronaut.
Never will there be- never has there been-

God holds this secret in Colonel John Glenn.
Luxurized [sic.] our scope of outer space knowledge,
Everyone knows he's professor of this college.
Never has one lived with such spiritual vim-
Now, feel it your duty to pray a prayer for him.
