Known for modern sculpture in stone, metal, and wood, particularly figural works of women, de Creeft's 16 ft bronze Alice In Wonderland climbing sculpture in Central Park is well known to both adults and children in New York City. He was an early adopter, and prominent exponent of the direct carving approach to sculpture. Known primarily for her direct carving of stone and wood, and for works which often celebrate women, families and cultures, Goulet's works include philosophical and educational writings and books, and poetry. In the autumn of 1943, Goulet entered Black Mountain College, North Carolina, where she studied painting and drawing with Josef Albers and weaving with Anni Albers. In the summer of 1944, she met Jose de Creeft, a visiting sculptor and instructor, and in November 1944, Goulet and de Creeft were married.

The NY photographers Sidney J. and his brother A. L. (Bud) Waintrob specialized in photographing artists, curators and other art world personalities. They worked under the name Budd [Studio] before using Waintrob-Budd.

A world renowned dentist with a roster of celebrity clients, Arthur Kahn was a pioneer in his profession, as one of the leading kind of proponents and developers of gnathology, an alternative to orthodonture. Anita Kahn had been an art student at Temple University and during the 1950s she resumed her studies at The New School for Social Research in New York as a student of Moses Soyer, Richard Pousette-Dart, and Anthony Toney. This rekindled interest in the arts led in the following decades to Anita and Arthur Kahn becoming art collectors and patrons. Examples from their collection have been exhibited in museums throughout the world including the Brooklyn Museum, the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.  Longtime friends of Alexander Calder, the Kahn’s collection, sold in 2015 at Christie's, contained over eighty works by the artist and was the most significant grouping of works by the artist ever to be offered at auction.
