Ray, Man. (1890 - 1976)

Collection of Original Candid Photographs and Negatives

Collection of 36 color negatives and candid photographs including 23 color and black and white prints depicting the artist and his wife Juliet Ray (1911–1991) in their home, 7 photographs of other people, many at Ray's home, and 16 miscellaneous photographs including several of his studio, and including what is understood to be his studio toilet.  Stamp to verso of several photographs indicates they were taken by Michael Pado, an architect based in Chicago, who can be seen in a few photographs, along with his wife, art dealer Alice Adam.  It is believed that all present photographs were taken by Pado, some evidently printed around 1974 (with stamp), others printed later, many with ink numerical notations on the versos. Various sizes and formats, largest measuring 7 x 5 inches (18 x 12.5 cm), all in very fine condition.  (18372)
