Signed Bruno of Hollywood N.Y.C. photograph of the American pianist and teacher of Ukrainian birth. He is shown leaning against the piano and has signed and inscribed at the upper left "To Robert Gillespie, with best wishes, Sascha Gorodnitzki,/ Nov. 1, 1945." 8 x 10 inches (20.5 x 25.5 cm). Some light wear on the right side of the photo, overall fine.

A Josef Lhevinne pupil who studied composition with Goldmark, Gordonitzki was a major touring artist who specialized in the Romantic piano repertory. He was a professor for many years at Juilliard, where he taught Emmanuel Ax and Garrick Ohlsson, among others.  (18270)
