Vintage press photograph, ca. 1923, of the great ballerina seated on a camel in front of the Great Sphinx of Giza. Press caption affixed to the foot of the image (partially missing) reads: "The 'round-the-world tour of the incomparable Anna Pavlowa and her Ballet Russe ended in Egypt [...] While there Mme. Pavlowa interviewed the Sphinx..." Stamped on the verso by manager Sol Hurok. Loss to the upper left corner, one pin hole, some light soiling; press caption torn. Overall very good. 8 x 10 inches (20.3 x 25.3 cm). (18171)
