Signed photograph of the American jazz vocalist, who is shown performing in an elegant gown. She has signed and inscribed at the left to Paul McMahon. Photograph by Murray Korman of New York. Slightly toned around the edges with one large fingerprint; overall very good. 8 x 10 inches (20.7 x 25.5 cm).

Sherrill began her career with Duke Ellington in 1942 when she was seventeen and Ellington considered her one of his favorite singers.  After the 1940s, she performed with Ray Nance and Rex Stewart, both former sideman for Ellington, and toured the USSR with Benny Goodman in 1962. (17970)
