4to, original cloth.  The text entirely in English, with Foreword by Abraham Efros. 196 illustrations, including numerous color, black-and-white, and photographic plates of Tairov, other members of the theater, and set designs (no plate 36 as issued). This copy inscribed on the half-title by Raphael Rubinstein, the"literary advisor" for the Kamerni Theatre "To Adella Meadows in remembrance of Moscow and the Kamerni Theatre 13/IX 36. Rafael Rubinstein."  "Richly illustrated album, published on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the famous Kamerni Theatre. With contributions by prominent Russian Avant-Garde artists, such as Natalie Goncharova, Alexandra Exter, V. + G. Stenberg, Pavel Kuznetsov, C. Sudeikin, Lentulov, Arapov, Ferdunandov, G. Yakulov, Alexander Vesnin, Naumov, V. Ryndin. Including set, costume and stage designs as well as performance photos." Original cloth binding, heavily toned and worn, with significant chipping/losses to binding corners and edges, some splitting to the joints, internally very good throughout. 

The Kamerny Theatre was a chamber theatre in Moscow, founded in 1914 by director Alexander Tairov (1885–1950). Over the next 35 years, this small, intimate theater became "recognized as a major force in Russian theater".  (17867)
