Large original John Lindquist photograph of the Danish dancer and choreographer who would later become ballet master in chief of the New York City Ballet, signed and inscribed to Paul McMahon. Martins is shown dancing, shirtless, against a white background. Stamped and signed on the verso by photographer John Lindquist. Slightly warped, with a small area of soiling at the right; overall very good. 11 x 14 inches (27.8 x 35.5 cm).

From the collection of Paul McMahon, a critic, photographer and artist who worked for more than 13 years touring with Marlene Dietrich as the icon’s stage manager, announcer, dresser, secretary and escort, and later spent 25 years as an arts and entertainment reviewer and photographer with Gay Community News, Esplanade, Tommy’s Connection, The Mirror, Bay Windows and other publications.
