Lombard, Carole. (1908–1942)

Two Celebrity Magazines

Two vintage celebrity magazines featuring the American actress known for her roles in screwball comedy. One magazine is devoted to her, titled Carole Lombard's Life Story (ca. 1942; 34 pp., heavily toned with covers detached); the other features Lombard on the cover of Screen Album (Summer Edition, August 1938–January 1939; 50 pp, toned). Overall good.

Lombard's career was cut short when she died at the age of 33 on board TWA Flight 3 on Mount Potosi, Nevada, while returning from a war bond tour in January 1942. Today, she is remembered as one of the definitive actresses of the screwball comedy genre and American comedy, and ranks among the American Film Institute's greatest female stars of classic Hollywood cinema.
