Original program from the "Grand Miscellaneous Concert" at the Liverpool Musical Festival on October 5, 1830. The concert included Mendelssohn's Overture to A Midsummer Night's Dream, as well as works by Haydn, Rossini, Attwood, Purcell and others; the performers included Maria Malibran and Margarethe Stockhausen, and the conductor was Sir George Smart. 20 pp. Plain blue wrappers, some light toning and soiling at edges; overall fine. 5 x 8.25 inches (12.8 x 21.2 cm),

The first British performance of the Overture to A Midsummer Night's Dream was conducted by Mendelssohn himself the year prior, on 24 June 1829. The orchestra on that occasion was assembled by Mendelssohn's friend Sir George Smart, who led the performance in the present program! (17809)
