Uncommon signed cabinet photograph of the founding editor of Grove's Dictionary of Music and Musicians and the first director of the Royal College of Music. He is shown in a portrait by Mayall & Co. of Brighton and has signed at the lower left. A few light spots and edge wear; overall fine. 4.25 x 6.5 inches (10.9 x 16.5 cm).This is the first signed photograph of Grove we have seen. (17804)
