Paganini's Visiting Card, with an Engraved Portrait

Original visiting card from the great violin virtuoso. On pink card with an elaborate embossed border design, printed in black at the center: "Le Baron N. Paganini / Commandeur et Chevalier / de plusieurs Ordres." Small mounting remnants to the verso; overall very fine. 3 x 2 inches (7.5 x 5 cm).

Together with an engraved portrait of Paganini (some light toning to the edges and a few scattered spots, diagonal light crease, overall very good; 6 x 8.75 inches [15 x 22 cm] ); and a 1931 auction catalogue of Paganini portraits and other items from the Berlin antiquarian Meyer & Ernst, at which the present visiting card was offered. A reproduction of this card is mounted on the wrapper of the catalogue. 56 pp. 

Paganini was named a Baron by Karl II of Braunschweig in July 1830, during the second year of his tour of Germany. (17676)
