Attractive color 6.75 x 9.25 paperstock photo of the celebrated singer, dancer, and actress wearing a topless pearled outfit with red feather tail, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, "To Madame and Mr. Casaravilla, with sincer[e] admiration and best wishes, Josephine Baker, Buenos Aires, July 15/39.” In very good to fine condition, with some light staining, and scattered flecks of surface loss. Nicely matted and framed to an overall size of 16.5 x 20.25 inches (42 x 51.5 cm).

Baker's response to her own nudity: 'I wasn't really naked. I simply didn't have any clothes on.' Signed nude portraits of Baker are generally uncommon, especially in color and larger-than-postcard size. (17659)
