Score to Diamond's Romeo and Juliet. [London]: Boosey & Hawkes, 1948. Signed by Diamond on the original softcover wrapper. A note in pencil on the wrapper reads: "1st Ed, corrected." With markings throughout in Diamond's hand throughout in blue pencil showing that he conducted the work, including numbers indicating the beats in the bar, reminders of instrumental entrances, arrows, tempo markings and dynamics. 66 pp. Hardcover, green cloth with gilt-stamped leather label to the spine. Shelf wear, label partially peeling, scratches to boards; overall very good. 9.5 x 12.75 inches (24 x 32.3 cm).

Study score of Diamond's Fourth Symphony. New York: G. Schirmer, Inc, 1949. 102 pp. Signed by Diamond on the original softcover wrapper. Hardcover, quarter leather with marbled boards, gilt stamped to the spine. Clipped half-tone photograph of Diamond mounted on the inside cover. With three clippings and several program pages laid in, relating to Diamond's 75th birthday and a performance of the symphony by the Philadelphia Orchestra in 1977. Toning; spine rubbed; overall very good. 7.5 x 10.5 inches (19 x 26.5 cm).

Signed by Diamond on the title page. 71 pp. Hardcover, green cloth gilt stamped to the spine and with Diamond's name gilt stamped to the front board. From the collection of David Diamond, considered one of the preeminent American composers of his generation. He enjoyed wide success in the 1940's and 1950's, before the serial and modernist trends largely pushed him into the shadows. The New York Times described him as "part of what some considered a forgotten generation of great American symphonists, including Howard Hanson, Roy Harris, William Schuman, Walter Piston and Peter Mennin." Among his many close friends in the world of music were Aaron Copland and Leonard Bernstein. (17648)
