Sammelband of Nineteenth-Century Vocal Music

A large sammelband of sheet music for art songs, arias and popular songs, published in the United States, ca. 1860's–1880's. The volume contains approx. 61 items of music loosely bound in half leather, with leather ownership label of Helen M. Lough to the front board. Page numbers are stamped at the upper right corner of every leaf, and a hand-written table of contents in alphabetical order is included at the beginning of the volume. The pieces include songs and arias by Mozart, Mendelssohn, Haydn, Weber, and Gounod among others (most in English translations), as well as a selection of popular songs by American composers of the era. Heavy wear to the binding, with front board and spine detached, most signatures loose; some foxing and toning throughout; overall good. 10.5 x 13.5 inches. (17074)
