Concert program from the concert premiere of Paul Hindemith's opera Die Harmonie der Welt with the Wiener Singakademie and the Wiener Symphoniker on November 18, 1960, signed on the inside cover by Hindemith, soprano Evelyn Lear, tenor Murray Dickie, and bass Ludwig Welter. 10 pp., including 3 pp. of illustrations; together with libretto booklet, 16 pp. In very fine condition. 5.75 x 8.25 inches (14.5 x 21 cm).

Hindemith's Die Harmonie der Welt is based on the life of astronomer Johannes Kepler (1571–1630), his scientific discoveries and his turbulent relationship with the church and the state. It was premiered on August 11, 1957 at the Prinzregententheater in Munich. The concert version performed here starred Ludwig Welter as Kaiser Rudolf II and Kaiser Ferdinand II, and Carlos Alexander as Kepler. The concert marked Hindemith's 65th birthday. (16780)
