Signed Program

Original program from a concert of the spectacular Soviet pianist, signed on the cover by Gilels and additionally signed on the internal page by the Soviet politician and diplomat Vyacheslav Molotov. The concert, on October 16, 1960, was presented by the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Vienna and included works by Bach, Schubert, Debussy and Prokofiev. In very fine condition, an unusual association. 6 x 8.25 inches (15 x 21 cm).

Russian statesman Vyacheslav Molotov emerged after World War II as the uncompromising champion of world Sovietism. His name is preserved in the Molotov cocktail—a bottle of flammable liquid used as a weapon—which he put into production during World War II. (16774)
