Typed Letter Signed about Brecht

Typed letter signed from the Austrian singer, diseuse, and actress, particularly known for her performances of the songs of her husband, Kurt Weill. March 23, 1974, 1 p. She writes to journalist Jeff Goldberg: "Dear Mr. Goldberg, Thank you very much for your letter of March 20th, 74 concerning an interview about Mr. Brecht. I have given so many interviews about him, that I feel it has exhausted my recollection. My suggestion would be to contact Mr. Brechts [sic] son, Stefan who , I am sure, could give you valuable material. Sincerely yours, Lotte Lenya." Together with the original envelope. In very fine condition. 7 x 10.25 inches (18 x 26 cm).

We include a signed statement from Jeff Goldberg, recalling how he got into contact with Lenya and that: "Although she turned me down at first, I eventually interviewed her in her Sutton Place apartment, and published articles in the Soho Weekly News and Mandrake, Mar 1977." Also included is a photocopy of the Mandrake article. (16752)
