Typed letter signed from the Austrian singer, diseuse, and actress, particularly known for her performances of the songs of her husband, Kurt Weill. March 23, 1974, 1 p. She writes to journalist Jeff Goldberg: "Dear Mr. Goldberg, Thank you very much for your letter of March 20th, 74 concerning an interview about Mr. Brecht. I have given so many interviews about him, that I feel it has exhausted my recollection. My suggestion would be to contact Mr. Brechts [sic] son, Stefan who , I am sure, could give you valuable material. Sincerely yours, Lotte Lenya." Together with the original envelope. In very fine condition. 7 x 10.25 inches (18 x 26 cm).
We include a signed statement from Jeff Goldberg, recalling how he got into contact with Lenya and that: "Although she turned me down at first, I eventually interviewed her in her Sutton Place apartment, and published articles in the Soho Weekly News and Mandrake, Mar 1977." Also included is a photocopy of the Mandrake article.
