Signed Photograph to Gaston Dubois

Signed original postcard photograph of the great conductor, who is shown in an intense bust portrait, and has signed and inscribed in black ink to "Mr. Gaston Dubois in remembrance of the concerts in March 1923 and of Bruno Walter." Stamped lower left and on the verso by the photographer, A. Stiffel of Munich. Crease to lower right corner, image somewhat browned and faded, overall very good. 3.5 x 5.25 inches (8.6 x 13.5 cm).

The present photograph was signed during Walter's successful 1923 tour of the United States, working with the New York Symphony Orchestra in Carnegie Hall and later conducting in Detroit, Minnesota and Boston. Gaston Dubois was principal cello of the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra which made its radio debut in March, 1923 by playing a nationally broadcast concert under guest conductor Bruno Walter.  (16725)
