Rare signed photograph of the popular soul singer, photographed by J. A. Dodd. Cooke has signed and inscribed boldly at the left. Photographer's signature at the lower right and stamp to the verso, dated May 17, 1958. One small scratch; slightly irregularly trimmed; overall fine. 7.5 x 7.5 inches (19 x 19 cm).

The popular rhythm-and-blues and soul artist recorded such hits as “You Send Me,” “Cupid,” and “Twistin' the Night Away.” The 33-year-old singer was shot to death under mysterious circumstances at a Los Angeles hotel on December 11, 1964. Signed photographs of Cooke are rare. (16583)
