Signed Photograph with Bach Autograph Musical Quotation
Signed photograph of the great cellist, who has inscribed boldly across the image in blue marker, and added an autograph musical quotation from Bach's Cello Suite no. 2 (Sarabande) at the upper right in the same ink as the included envelope addressed to a fan. In very fine condition. 5.75 x 4.5 inches (14 x 11 cm.)Fournier was known in his lifetime as "the aristocrat of cellists," because of his fine lyrical playing and for his impeccable artistic sensitivity. Virgil Thomson wrote in the New York Herald Tribune, "I do not know his superior among living cellists, nor any...who give one more profoundly the feeling of having been present at music-making."
