Autograph Letter to Florizel von Reuter

Autograph letter from the Norwegian composer to violinist Florizel von Reuter. 1 p.; n.d. Translated from the German: "Dear Mr. v. Reuter! I received your very kind card with thanks, and am looking forward to seeing you again after such a long time. It is very kind of you to come and see me, and I am almost always home in the morning between 12 and 1. But please telephone to make sure. I will be delighted to hear the violin duo." Tape repairs, mounting remnants and toning; overall good. 8.25 x 5.5 inches (21 x 14.5 cm).

The Norwegian composer Christian Sinding studied in Leipzig and was influenced by Wagner and Liszt, spending most of his career in Germany. He is best-known for his Frühlingsrauschen, a lyrical work for piano, and is often considered a successor to Edvard Grieg.

Florizel von Reuter was an American-born violinist and composer, a child prodigy who went on to an adult career, mainly in Germany, as distinguished soloist and teacher of violin. He was also a psychic and medium and the author of several books on his alleged mediumistic communications with deceased musicians. (16425)
