Typed Letter Signed after an early trip to the Soviet Union

Typed letter signed from the masterful violinist, regarding photographs taken in Russia. September 23, 1956. 1 p. Text, in part: "Dear Mr. Lowenherz:– Regarding your letter of July 31 in which you expressed interest in the pictures I've taken in Russia I do not know whether any of them would suit your needs and/or be of interest to anyone else. However, I will be back in New York after October 25th and I could show you what I have..." Folding creases and a slight loss at the upper left; overall very good. 825 x 10.5 inches (21 x 27 cm).

Stern toured the Soviet Union in 1951, the first American violinist to do so. In 1967, Stern stated his refusal to return to the USSR until the Soviet regime allowed artists to enter and leave the country freely.  (16401)
