Lagerfeld, Karl. (1933-2019)

Original Fashion Design with Fabric Swatch

Original fashion design, ca. 1960's, from the German fashion designer, artist, and photographer known as the creative director of Chanel and for his own eponymous fashion label. The design for a sleeveless dress is executed in ink and crayon with notes in French at both sides, a further small sketch of the back view of the dress at the lower right, and swatches of black, white and tweed fabric pinned to the sheet. Some light foxing and wear, slightly irregularly trimmed at the head; overall fine. 8.5 x 19.5 inches (21.6 x 47.5 cm).

From the Estate of Tiziani. In 1963, American designer Evans Richards opened a fashion house in Rome under the name Tiziani, employing Karl Lagerfeld as his fellow couturier in the firm. Their first collection was a huge success, and within a short time, faithful clients included Elizabeth Taylor, Doris Duke, Gina Lollobrigida, Principessa Borghese and many others. Mr. Lagerfeld remained with the firm until 1969. (16347)
