The set of 52 screenprints, 1975, with title and biography, on playing cards, with the justification label, signed in black ink by Paik and including one extra card (King of Clubs) in duplicate signed and inscribed by John Cage himself. Number 110 from the edition of 250 (there were also 30 artist's proofs), the full sheets, in very good condition, some stray blue ink on a few from the silkscreening process, loose in black canvas-covered box (portfolio), the cards in standard format, the set 150 x 115 mm (overall).Nam June Paik counted the avant-garde composer as a major influence, collaborator and friend and created a film tribute to him in 1973. The cards consist of 52 original silkscreen prints printed on playing cards, plus one joker and one timeline card. The cards have traditional faces and indices, the original silkscreens printed on the alternate sides. A remarkable item from the composer who experimented with the nature of sound and composition through chance procedures, including the arrival at sound and duration parameters through coin tosses and the use of...playing cards.
