Original cabinet photograph of the popular American dancer in the burlesque The Corsair, ca. 1888. She is identified on the verso in pencil, apparently with a stage name or pseudonym of "Ameah Glovina." Photographed by Falk of New York. Slight toning; overall fine. 4.25 x 6.5 inches (10.7 x 16.7 cm).
According to her obituary in the New York Dramatic Mirror, Amelia Glover "was accounted one of the most accomplished dancers in the United States. She was a finished step-dancer and at the same time a ballet soloist of the highest class. Her grace and personal attractiveness were almost proverbial."
