Announcement of Brahms' Death

A printed black-bordered document announcing the death of Johannes Brahms on April 3, 1897. Published by the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Vienna, of which Brahms was the honorary president, the document gives notice of his funeral, to be held on April 6, 1897. 

Dated Vienna, April 4, 1897. 1 page. Oblong quarto, 11.5 x 9 inches (29 x 23 cm). The document also provides details on Brahms's funeral, to be held on Tuesday April 6th at 2:30 p.m., commencing at the funeral home and proceeding to the Evangelical Church; the body will then be taken to the Central (City) Cemetery for interment. Some light edge wear and wrinkling, else fine.
