Photographed by Pierre Petit of Paris, with the photographer's insignia on the verso. Overpainting to Guadagnini's eyes; light toning; overall fine. 2.5 x 4 inches (6 x 10.5 cm).Guadagnini appeared at the Metropolitan Opera in its inaugural season of 1883–4, but was criticized for his performance as Rigoletto in the Times: "It is a thousand pities that the poor man came so far to do so little."
