Auric, Georges. (1899–1983)

Autograph Letter

Autograph letter from the French composer, a child prodigy who, by the time he turned 20, had orchestrated and written incidental music for several ballets and stage productions and who was considered one of Les Six, a group of artists informally associated with Jean Cocteau and Erik Satie. Dated "Monday" and postmarked June 14, 1928. Translated from the French:  "Dear Madame, If you haven't had any news from me recently, it's just that I was traveling. I am now in Paris. Please let me know a day when you are free. We have finished the "contract" part of the business. (You know that I am connected with an editor. But I think that we can get around the difficulty.) Until soon, I think. My best wishes, Georges Auric." Toning and perforated edges; overall fine. 4.5 x 5.75 inches (11.4 x 14.5 cm). (15525)
