Original Photograph with a Painting

Original photograph of the legendary jazz trumpeter, shown standing in front of one of his own paintings at the Tunnel Club in New York, ca. 1980's. 6 x 8 inches.

Davis began drawing and painting in earnest in 1980, during a period of recovery from addiction and other health issues. While largely overshadowed by his music during his lifetime, Davis' visual art was used for the covers of the albums "Star People" and "Amandla", as well as the backdrops for several of his live performances, and has seen gallery showings around the world in the years since the musician''s death.
