Autograph letter from the influential Italian publisher to a Marquis, apologizing for missing a meeting at the theater. Milan, March 9, 1881. 1 1/2 pp, signed on the verso. Translated from the Italian: "My dear Marquis, Please accept my apologies for not coming to the theatre yesterday at 9 pm. I had hoped to be free very soon and, therefore, did not send any message to inform you. At 10:15, I was still busy and in the office. So, I realized it was too late by then!
