Sammelband of Piano Scores, including "Paganini's Dream"

Sammelband of 7 early nineteenth-century works for piano by composers including Henri Herz, François Hünten, Joseph Mayseder and Ignaz Moscheles, and featuring a striking lithograph on the cover showing Paganini surrounded by devils and witches. Disbound from a larger collection with the title page of the first piece serving as a cover (lacking binding). Remnants of binding to the spine. Wear and soiling to the cover; overall toning; some edge tears and repairs as noted below. Overall in very good condition. 9.25 x 12.5 inches (23.5 x 32 cm).

Paganini's dream : fantasia for the piano forte in which is introduced the dance of the witches under the walnut tree of Benevento, inscribed to Signor Pacini by the author of L'école de Paganini. London: sold by George & Manby, [after 1831]. Fantasia and variations on the theme from Franz Xaver Süssmayr's "Noce di Benevento" which was used by Paganini in his "Le streghe". Lithographed title page by T.R. Gooding: vignette of Paganini seated under a tree surrounded by devils and witches. 8 pp. Engraved throughout, without plate number. Large corner loss to the cover, repaired.

Moscheles, Ignaz (1794–1870). Gems à la Sontag, a dramatic fantasia for the piano forte, in which are introduced the most admired airs sung by Mademoiselle Sontag. Third edition. London: Mori & Lavenu, [ca. 1830]. Suite of short opera aria arrangements for the piano, ornamented in the style of German soprano Henriette Sontag. Engraved throughout.
