1898: Leipzig. M. P. Belaieff. First edition for low voice.. Sheet music to the Russian composer's group of 4 Romances for solo voice and piano, here titled "4 Mélodies." Signed and inscribed by the composer on the title to his close friend and the librettist for several of his operas, Vladimir Belsky (translated from the Russian): "To the very dear / Wladimir Iwanowitsch Bilski / N. R-Korsakov / April 30, [18]98." [PN] 1705. Very rare; WorldCat records only one copy.

Vladimir Belsky (1866–1946), a statistician and folklorist, wrote the libretto for Rimsky-Korsakov's operas The Golden Cockerel, The Tale of Tsar Saltan and Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh, and assisted him with his own libretto for Sadko. (15137)
