Jumbo original gravure photograph boldly signed and inscribed by the Golden Age Australian soprano in 1898. Photograph signed Histed [Ernest Walter Histed] and dated 1897 within the negative lower left, inscribed and signed in brown ink on the lower mount by Melba. Gravure with significant rippling from the surface of the mount and with two sections cracking along the ripples. Block of toning around the mount, mounting remnants and small losses to corners/edges, otherwise good. 9.5 x 11.5 inches [24 x 29 cm]; 12 x 14.5 inches [31 x 37 cm] overall.
