Autograph letter signed from the important composer and conductor. May 22, 1924. Strauss apologizes for not having been able to speak personally to his correspondent, due to his son's recent illness [Franz Strauss contracted typhus on his honeymoon in Egypt in 1924.] He continues to thank the correspondent's wife, "Frau Dora," for the "birthday present, which gave me a great deal of pleasure and which will have a place of honor in our new home," and sends congratulations for a promotion and hopes for "great success in Berlin." 1 p. 8vo, single-sheet folded on Sudbahn-Hotel letterhead; small tear to the fold, but overall in fine condition. 6 x 8.5 inches (15.4 x 21.5 cm).
