Signed Photograph

An original photograph of the celebrated string quartet posing below a tower, inscribed and signed by all four members (Franco Rossi, cello; Elisa Pegreffi, second violin; Paolo Borciani, first violin; and Piero Farulli, viola) and dated 1960. 17.5 x 23.5 cm. Corners slightly creased, date smudged, else fine. Uncommon.

Founded in 1945 in Reggio Emilia, the Quartetto Italiano had a long and influential presence both in Italy and internationally. The group is particularly noted for its recording of the complete Beethoven string quartets, made between 1967 and 1975. (14902)
