Plate 1 from the portfolio "Penthesilea," which consists of illustrations for the famous tragedy of the same name by Heinrich von Kleist. Signed in pencil ("O.Kokoschka") at the foot and numbered (numbering in the images deviates from the real numbering of the lot). Catalogue raisonné: Wingler/Welz 454.
