Autograph Musical Sketchleaf
Signed sketchleaf of manuscript music from the noted German conductor and composer. He has penned eighteen measures of music for piano over two systems, the measures numbered above with further empty measures numbered at the end of each stave, and has signed ("Blech") at the lower right. On the music direction letterhead of the Königliche Schauspiele, with staves ruled in pencil. Partially split along two large folding creases, with several other small edge tears and light toning; overall in good condition. 11.5 x 8.75 inches (29.3 x 22.3 cm).Blech held many important posts with opera houses in both Germany and Austria throughout his career, including a four-year stint in Riga when, being Jewish, he found himself unable to return to Berlin as conductor at the Staatsoper from a guest engagement in 1937.
