[Romani, Felice. (1788-1865)]

Sinfonia Ex. G. à Violino Primo, Violino Secondo, con Basso, S. I. ad usum F. Romani. - Copyist Manuscript

Set of manuscript parts, in a copyist's hand, for a chamber work of two movements for two violins, two oboes and bass, likely dating from early 19th-century Austria or southern Germany. By an unidentified composer, apparently with the initials S. I. as shown on the title page. Five parts (including the three string parts given in the title and also two further parts for two oboes in the same hand) as follows: Violino I (5 pp); Violino II (5 pp); and Basso (5 pp), all folio; Oboe I (2 pp) and Oboe II (2 pp), 4to. Unbound. Each part also marked as "No. 9" and copied throughout in a bold, clear manuscript hand. The work is in two movements, "Allegro" and "Presto." Heavy wear and some tearing to the title page; overall toning and ink bleed-through, but otherwise highly legible and in very good condition.

As per the notation on the title (" ad usum F. Romani") these parts seem to have been copied for the use of Italian poet Felice Romani (1788-1865), who wrote numerous librettos for Bellini, Mayr, Donizetti and Mercadante. (14718)
