"Berlin in Wien" - Signed Silhouette Image of Conductors

Original reproduction silhouette image of conductors and pianists by the Austrian silhouette artist Otto Böhler, signed and inscribed on the mount by German composer and pianist Emil Sauer to the Italian composer Leone Sinigaglia. Translated from the French, the inscription reads: "To my charming colleague Leone Sinigaglia, with best wishes, Emil Sauer. Souvenir of the enjoyable time spent with him in Vienna. January 1898." The silhouetted figures are (left to right): Felix von Weingartner, Felix Mottl, Ferdinand Löwe, Robert Fuchs, Emil Sauer (at the piano), and Arthur Nikisch. Reproduced by R. One small chip to the inscription; light surface wear and some light soiling to the verso; overall in fine condition. 9.75 x 7.25 inches (24.7 x 18.3 cm).

The notable German composer, pianist, editor, and teacher Emil von Sauer was a pupil of Franz Liszt and one of the most distinguished pianists of his generation. (14620)
