Gould, Glenn. (1932-1982)

Signed Beethoven and Bach Piano Concerto Recording

Superb bold autograph signature and inscription ("To Margaret with best wishes Glenn Gould / Feb. 58") in red ink on the verso of the 1957 LP jacket for his celebrated Columbia recordings of the Beethoven 2nd and Bach D Minor concertos with Leonard Bernstein and the Columbia Symphony Orchestra. Splitting to all edges of cover, small surface losses to corners of verso and spine, none affecting the signed area. From the family of friends of Seattle Symphony conductor Milton Katims, through whom they were introduced to the pianist and sold together with a handwritten note of provenance.

Gould had made his New York orchestral debut in 1955 with the New York Philharmonic and Leonard Bernstein playing Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 2.  Signed recordings from the reclusive pianist are very scarce. (14561)
