Signed Letter to Alexis Dupont

A remakable letter of congratulations after a competition, signed by 17 members of the 1851 Comité de L'Association des Artistes musiciens, including Adolphe Adam, Ambroise Thomas, Triebert, Gautier, Taylor, Debez, Labro aîné, Victor Petiton, Prumier père, Rignault aîné, Zimmerman, Laty, Panseron, Taskin, Edouard Monnais. 1 page, in very fine condition.

The addressee of the letter, tenor Alexis Dupont (1796-1874), was one of the great stars of the Opéra-Comique from 1821-1840. Auber wrote the role of Alphonse in "La Muette de Portici" for him, and he created roles in Rossini's "Guillaume Tell" and Halévy's "La Juive." (1440)
