Engraved Portrait with Violin

An attractive etched portrait of the composer known as a champion of American music, a prolific choral composer, and concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic in the 1850's. He is shown seated, holding his violin. His facsimile signature appears below the image. Engraved by H. B. Hall after a photograph by Rockwood and dated N. Y., 1879. Some light foxing but overall in fine condition. 7.25 x 9.5 inches (18.5 x 24.5 cm), matted to 11.5 x 14.25 inches (29 x 36.5 cm). (14382)
